Why Yisra’el and not Israel
Why Yisra’el and not Israel?
The name Yisra’el is a divine name, given from heaven. Therefore, the name must remain in its original format. This includes both the pronunciation and meaning. If God gave anything why would man think to change it or even replace it with their own doctrine? The name Yisra’el is a Universal name and although this name may be new to most, it is indeed an ancient name. Those that are familiar with the Strong’s Concordance, can find this name under the #3478 of the Hebrew dictionary, located in the Strong’s dictionary. Believe it or not, all of the covenant of promises were given to God’s people, which were called by his name. So why the Hebrew language ? Is God the author of confusion? 1 Corinthians 14:33, lets us know that he is not. Therefore, when he named HIS PEOPLE, it was in the language in which he spoke. When a President of a Country visits another Country, does his name change? No. You cannot separate a people from their language. This therefore makes HIS NAME a UNIVERSAL NAME. No matter where you go throughout the world. HIS NAME will remain pure and in the language in which it originated.
Lord God of the Hebrews
……..The LORD God of the Hebrews hath met with us: Exodus 3:18
In Exodus 3:18, scripture gives a key phrase concerning God’s language when it stated “Lord God of the Hebrews. Of is a preposition that is used to indicate derivation, origin, or source. It therefore shows ownership or acceptance of this language since it originated by him. Although there were a number of different Hebrew languages that existed among the early Hebrew people, God gave HIS PEOPLE a holy Hebrew language. Remember in Genesis 12:2, he told Abraham that “I will make of thee a great Nation”. One of the first things that you need to create any kind of civilized nation is a language. Since God said that I WILL MAKE, he was saying that the nation had to be formed. This included giving them a language, an identity, a custom, etc. In Isa 43;1, he stated that he had formed Yisra’el.
God is Holy, therefore, his language has to be holy.
The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works. Psalms 145:17
Everything that God does is both righteous and holy (Psalms 145:17). Therefore, when he named his people in the Hebrew language, that made this language both righteous and holy. For this reason, if you are to be his people, you must first start off by being called by his name for this is the first requirement
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chron 7:14
2 Chronicles is showing a condition when it uses the word “If”. If you are to be his people, you must first be called by his family name.
The language in which God named Himself, His Temple, and His People are so important to him, that when he comes back to pour out his wrath on the unholy, he will proceed to turn back the people to a pure language; the language which he created. It is God’s determination for everyone to worship him with one consent (tongue or language). (Zeph. 3:9)Again a name is a unique sound that identifies a person, place or thing. When you change the sound of any name (through translation or any other means), you have changed the name, making a divine name unholy. This name or any one of God’s divine names cannot be independent of the one that resurrected this revelation. This complete divine system will identify today’s true restored Church and its leader.
